Hospital of Hope Objectives

(a) The objectives of the Company ("Objectives") are to:

(i) provide lifesaving medical and surgical care to those who need it most in Timor-Leste ("Services");
(ii) establish, operate and maintain a specialist services and training hospital, including a primary care in-patient facility and polyclinic and a medical emergency retrieval service all based in Dili, Timor-Leste ("Hospital"). The Hospital will enable the people of Timor-Leste to have access to lifesaving critical medical care;
(iii) provide a not-for-profit medical service to citizens and others in Timor-Leste. The Hospital may also provide paid medical services to visitors, expatriate residents and organisations operating in Timor-Leste, but only if the provision of medical services to those people and organisations supports the provision of medical services to the people of Timor-Leste;
(iv) contribute to the capacity and capability of the health care system in Timor-Leste and to model first world care;
(v) work closely with the Government of Timor-Leste to ensure that the Services are complementary to other health care services in that country;
(vi) remain autonomous of any political organisation, although the Hospital may with the approval of its members partner with religious and other non-political organisations in order to achieve the Objectives;
(vii) work in close collaboration with other agencies dedicated to helping the East Timorese people;
(viii) train and educate East Timorese medical, nursing and allied health care staff to enable them to participate in and progressively take over the administration and provision of the Services to be provided by the Hospital;
(ix) promote mutual trust and confidence between the Company and the Members in pursuit of the Objectives;
(x) seek to raise funds from its Members governmental and other agencies and entities, and the public to assist in the pursuit of the Objectives; (xi) liaise with other bodies, including international and national governmental agencies and non-governmental organisations, that have an interest in the provision of overseas development aid;
(xii) provide and maintain such facilities and equipment as may be required by and for the purposes of the Company;
(xiii) do all that is necessary to enable the Objectives to be achieved; and
(xiv) do all such things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the Objectives or any of them.

(b) The Company must:

(i) only apply the income and property of the Company in promoting the Objectives of the Company; and
(ii) retain any surplus solely in pursuit of the Objectives.

(c) The Company must not involve itself in the political affairs of Timor-Leste or any other country, although this shall not be construed so as to prevent the Hospital from expressing its views privately on matters directly affecting the operations of the Hospital and the furtherance of the Objectives.
